“Stock Market Learning”: step into the world of investing

How does the stock market work, and how can you make informed investment decisions? With the “Stock Market Learning” stock market simulation game, young people aged 15 to 29 have the opportunity to discover exactly that in a realistic environment and without any financial risk. We spoke with Claude Hermes and Florence Flener from the Spuerkeess Marketing department to learn more about the “Stock Market Learning” and gather their advice.

For those who are not yet familiar with “Stock Market Learning”, what is this stock market simulation game all about?

“Stock Market Learning” gives young people a practical introduction to financial markets. Using a virtual starting capital of EUR 50.000, participants can invest in real securities. Transactions are executed via the Stuttgart Stock Exchange, based on real market prices and buying and selling fees. The objective is to build the best-performing portfolio possible while gaining a better understanding of how the stock market works.

Financial education is part of Spuerkeess’ DNA. The “Stock Market Learning” competition makes it tangible and accessible for young people.

Why should young people take part?

The competition provides an excellent introduction to investing without putting any real money at risk. Participants gain a better understanding of how markets behave, learn how to make investment decisions and test different strategies. The competitive element also adds an extra source of motivation, with attractive prizes of up to EUR 1.000 to be won. It is possible to take part individually or in teams of up to four people, making it a great opportunity to exchange ideas and learn together.

How does it differ from investing in real life?

The main difference is the timeframe. The competition lasts only around four months. As a result, participants may be more inclined to seize short-term opportunities and take on a higher level of risk. However, it is still essential to keep a cool head, as market fluctuations are just as much a part of the game as they are of real-life investing.

What advice would you give to participants?

Our advice: stay calm. Even when attractive opportunities arise, it is worth taking the time to think through your decisions. Above all, give it a try, learn and enjoy the experience. That is exactly what “Stock Market Learning” was created for.

For anyone interested in discovering the world of investing, “Stock Market Learning” is an ideal starting point: hands-on, educational and combined with a healthy sense of competition.

When does the next edition of “Stock Market Learning” begin?

Registration for the 2026/2027 edition will be open from 14 September to 11 November 2026. The competition itself will start on 1 October 2026 and run until 25 January 2027. Young people who would like to learn more about investing and gain hands-on experience can already mark these dates in their calendars. We look forward to welcoming many new participants to the next edition.
