Cybersecurity: Child's play at any age!

Ah, great journeys through unknown lands! Many people undertake them, and even more dream of them. Sophie knows that the taste for adventure is not necessarily a question of age. Since her aunt, although no longer in the springtime of her life, demonstrates this to her every day as she travels the world. But beware: “adventurous” doesn't mean “incautious”! That's why Sophie has a good tip for her relative...

New technologies and ancient sites: a perfect symbiosis

Sophie is looking forward to being reunited with her Aunt Agathe - a rare event indeed! This has less to do with Sophie and her many professional and family obligations than with the fact that the charming old lady, aged 94, is rarely in the country. Aunt Agathe loves to travel the world to discover new treasures: culinary delights, tourist attractions, historical sites - she's simply interested in everything!

And to make the most of her favorite pastime, so-called “new technologies” have long held no secrets for her. Whether it's a cell phone, GPS, Internet banking or credit cards, she's quickly familiarised herself with the various digital solutions available to any traveler, and as a result is not at all afraid to organise her daily life in a mobile and digital way.

You can dream...but you can't be naive!

Sophie is very proud of her aunt and her enthusiasm for these technologies. She prefers, however, to remind Aunt Agathe on a regular basis that the thugs aren't always hiding in a dark alley in an unfamiliar city, but just as often behind a hidden telephone number or an unexpected e-mail hyperlink.

That's why Sophie is determined to inform her relative at their next reunion that The Luxembourg Bankers’ Association (“Association des Banques et Banquiers, Luxembourg”, ABBL), together with the main banks in the Financial centre and a number of external expert companies, has recently launched a new website:

All the info at a glance...

This website, aimed at the general public and available in French, German, English and Luxembourgish, gives valuable advice on how best to avoid the most well-known cybercrime scams. It also provides information on effective methods for protecting your privacy and banking data. And since it's regularly updated with the latest technological developments in the field, Aunt Agathe can consult it at any time when in doubt. So she can set off with peace of mind - whether for a regional hike or the next round-the-world trip! Even at 94!
