The big move to the first home

Sophie and Marc had been talking about it for months. Between two coffees and a few scrolls through their favourite property app, they dreamed of a light-filled living room, a kitchen where Marc could finally test his recipes without bumping into the fridge… and a balcony for Sophie – because plants are simply a must.

The turning point

One evening, after once again paying a rent that felt like “too much for too little” and after Marc had bumped into the fridge yet again, he blurts out in frustration: “What if we stopped financing the landlord’s dream?”
Sophie smiles. She knows he’s right. Buying means investing in their future. And above all, it means saying goodbye to moving house every two years.
The decision is made – the time has come to embark on the project of a lifetime.

The search for their first home

The following weekend, they visit a first apartment, then a second, then a third… Between disappointing viewings and criteria that constantly need rethinking, the search quickly turns into a marathon. Too small, too dark, too far away… Doubts start to creep in.

Every evening, they go over their priorities again: “garden or balcony?”, “city or countryside?”, “house or apartment?”. And despite the hesitation, one certainty keeps them going: they want a place of their own, and they promise themselves not to give up. Each viewing is another step forward, and they know they can rely on their advisor, who is always available to answer their questions.

“We’ll get there – I’m sure of it!” Sophie says, pulling out her notebook.

The unexpected love at first sight

And then, one Saturday morning, everything suddenly falls into place. A terraced house with a garden, not too far from the city, and a spacious kitchen where Marc already imagines himself cooking his famous risotto. Sophie, meanwhile, pictures herself organising brunches on the flower-filled terrace.

For the first time, they can truly see themselves there. They dream of summer evenings, of decorating the place, of the bedroom where Lili will finally have a bigger bed, and of a small home-office corner for remote work.

“This is the one, Marc. I can feel it.”

Emotions before signing

The days that follow are filled with meetings, calculations and the setup of a financing plan tailored to their budget.
Sophie admits she felt a slight shiver when she saw the loan amount, but the financing simulation helps her look ahead with confidence.
Marc, on the other hand, feels proud: “We’re investing in our future – not in a landlord’s.”
And when they finally receive the confirmation: “Your financing has been approved”, it’s pure euphoria. They already imagine choosing wall colours and planning their house-warming party.

Of course, there are still numbers to finalise and documents to sign. But with their bank by their side, everything feels much simpler. Their dream is taking shape, and soon they will be holding the keys to their very first home.

Because, in the end, buying a home isn’t just about walls and square metres. It’s a story you begin writing together.
