Evergreens Insights: The role of the Bank in energy renovation according to Michel Marx

In this extract from the podcast Evergreens by Spuerkeess, we give the floor to Michel Marx, Team Manager Retail Banking. He explains why the Bank plays a key role in energy renovation and how it adapts its solutions to support its customers.

Michel, why is the Bank so involved in energy renovation?

Quite simply because the energy transition is a collective challenge. By financing renovation work, we help our customers improve the energy performance of their properties, which reduces their bills and increases the value of their assets. Its a win-win situation: for the customer, for the Bank, and for the climate.

Spuerkeess, catalyst for the energy transition

Tell us about the products “Ecoprêt” and “Ecobonus powered by etika”.

The Ecoprêt is designed to finance energy-related work without a mortgage registration, up to EUR 100.000, under favorable conditions. As for the Ecobonus powered by etika, it rewards customers who improve their energy passport after renovation. These two solutions demonstrate our commitment to actively supporting the transition.

What impact do subsidies have on demand?

Its huge. Subsidies are often the trigger for customers. But we also need to educate them about long-term profitability, even without subsidies. A renovated home means lower expenses and greater comfort. Its a sustainable investment.

How do you see the evolution of the real estate and renovation market?

Demand will grow. The existing housing stock is vast and often energy intensive. Regulations will become stricter, and financing will be essential. We want to be a key player by offering flexible solutions and guiding our customers in their choices.

Can the Bank become a catalyst for achieving climate neutrality?

Yes, absolutely. Today we finance projects that will have an impact until 2050. By acting now, we accelerate the transition. Its both our responsibility and our opportunity.
