After several years marked by rising interest rates, slower transaction volumes and challenges in the construction sector, the Luxembourg property market appears to be gradually regaining stability. Buyers now benefit from greater visibility and stronger support thanks to the introduction of several government measures aimed at improving access to housing. That said, the environment remains challenging: property prices are still high in many parts of the country, and becoming a homeowner remains a significant financial commitment. Should prospective buyers wait a little longer or take advantage of the opportunities available today? We asked Bruno Mendes, Team Manager Lending at Spuerkeess.

In a context where rents are rising and interest rates are evolving, becoming a homeowner can offer much more than just a roof over your head. It’s a strategic choice—both personal and financial. In this article, we present the main advantages of buying real estate in both the short and long term, while also exploring the reasons why renting can make sense and when it might be the right time to take the step toward homeownership. Discover why buying a property can be a smart decision for your financial and personal future!

Sophie and Marc had been talking about it for months. Between two coffees and a few scrolls through their favourite property app, they dreamed of a light-filled living room, a kitchen where Marc could finally test his recipes without bumping into the fridge… and a balcony for Sophie – because plants are simply a must.

Many people who have recently bought a property or are considering doing so, often feel overwhelmed by the question of how much a sustainable renovation costs and whether it is affordable. Spuerkeess now offers the necessary support with a team of trained experts, the “Energy Coaches”. In this interview, Michel Marx, Team Manager Retail Banking at Spuerkeess, gives us an initial insight into the new customer service and reveals how you can get closer to your dream of a sustainable home with complete peace of mind.

The real estate market in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has been through a turbulent period since 2022. Under the effect of economic uncertainties, rising interest rates, slowing construction projects and price adjustments, the usual points of reference have been disrupted. However signs of a rebalancing following the storm are emerging. Andrea Maramotti, CEO of Immotop.lu, gives us his analysis.

You've heard so much about them that you can't ignore them any longer. Especially as you now see them just about everywhere… except on your roof! Now is the time to take a more serious interest, for the sake of our planet!

'Should we buy or rent?', ask Julie and Charel, a young couple in the process of making life's big decisions. Having recently completed their studies, they're now well established in their jobs and looking forward to embarking on a new stage in their lives: the time has come to buy their first home.

Many unforeseen events can occur in life: a desire to move elsewhere for a work opportunity, downsizing your home as you approach retirement, a divorce or separation. These events can cost more than you've acquired so far, so financing is an absolute must! But will your bank support you in this change, given your advanced age?

If you have just finished your studies or started your professional life, you are probably not thinking about saving money. And even less about saving to buy a property. Your own apartment… that’s a lot of money and still seems a distant dream, right? OK, but what if we told you that you can get started right away? Here’s how!

In case you haven't noticed, it's cold outside! Out with the summer jackets and in with the scarves and overcoats! This is also usually the time when people start cranking up the heating at home. At Marc and Sophie’s house, however, their old boiler no longer works properly and is far from economical. As a result, Sophie has to wear her fleece around the house, and Marc tears his hair out each time he receives the heating bill.
